We welcome the updated national standards for sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), which encourage developers to design-in landscaping from the outset and ensure easy and safe maintenance over the lifetime of the development.
However, in order to realise the full potential of SuDS to deliver for growth, people, and the environment, the government must finally implement Schedule 3 of the of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010.
Bringing this existing piece of legislation into force could significantly increase the uptake of SuDS and help deliver the government’s commitment to build 1.5 million homes this parliament in a sustainable way.
